People like me because I listen to their stories and can ask engaging questions but I NEVER can talk about myself
I'm a good listener. I pay attention to what people are saying, repeat their points and ask them questions and they'll continue to talk about themselves. People really like to talk about themselves...
I find that I never talk about myself, my day, my thoughts, experiences and hopes.people just generally don't ask me any engaging questions and I don't want to just randomly talk about myself.
I know that even though people like me they don't know me at all. It's very lonely, I'm never close with anyone. Am I explaining this ok? How do you converse with someone in a way that creates closeness and friendship? Every conversation I have makes me feel drained. Like I just heard this person's whole life story and didn't say a word about myself. What am I missing here?
Oh, and I'm 50 so this has been a lifelong problem of never really having any close friends.
