Water heater exploded!?!?
Just purchased my first home in December, that being said I know nothing about home repairs honestly. Tonight I started hearing water pouring in my basement, ran down stairs and it turned out to be my water heater. Upon closer inspection it looks like it split down the side. How does this even happen!? It is a AO Smith residential electric water heater and it is under warranty until sept 2026. I tried to call the manufacturer but nobody is available until morning so I’m super clueless on what I should do. I have shut off the water and the breaker to the heater but it is making this terrifying gurgling sound and I’m afraid it’s about to blow up lol.
