Current Manager is asking for my next job’s acceptance…

Current Manager is asking for my next job’s acceptance letter. How to proceed?

Good morning,

I’m a software engineer at a large Fortune 500 company and recently received an offer from a competitor. When I joined my current company, I signed a non-compete agreement. However, I live in a state where non-competes are generally unenforceable, and the agreement itself allows me to work for a competitor as long as I don’t share confidential information or attempt to take clients with me. I also want to note that the role I’m moving into is in a completely different sector from my current work.

My manager has been pressuring me to disclose which company I’m joining. Under that pressure, I shared the company name but did not provide details about my new role. He is now asking me to provide a signed acceptance letter.

I’m wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation. I also have 9 days of PTO that he is willing to approve, but only if I provide the signed acceptance letter.

Thanks in advance.
