Sizing a pot for a tree from the ground

I have a Chicago Hardy fig tree. It was in a pot for 4ish years and then I put it in the ground for the last two. Due to some plumbing concerns I want to bring it up. I have googled and looked and I'm just not sure how to size it up for a pot. In the two years it's been in the ground it has grown wider with many shoots and is probably between 3.5 to 4 feet tall. I'm sure with it going in a pot it will have to come in during the winter (zone 7a USA) so something that doesn't require me hiring the local body builder team to move it indoors at end of season. Any suggestions on sizing and materials?
