Sales and marketing is inherently exploitative and the people working in those fields should feel bad
I get that you aren't actively causing physical harm to people, but your entire career is built around separating people from their finances in such a maximalist kind of way that it teeters on the edge. Whether that be holding people's time hostage through a sales pitch they've already stated they're not interested in, or selling them a coverage you know they don't need, it's all largely the same. Especially if it's something the buyer doesn't fully understand (looking at you store credit cards). And of course, to some degree it's a necessity to have outbound information on what products are available but it seems now more than ever the entire industry is explicitly predatory #conversation
