I’m a 3D artist planning a workstation build for **Unreal Engine 5 VR Development**
A quick note: I **won't** be using Nanite or Lumen for my workflow. I’m focusing on a more traditional high-poly workflow with baked lighting and standard LOD systems for VR optimization.
I’m torn between two options:
1. **RTX 3090 (24GB VRAM) - Used:** The raw VRAM capacity is very tempting for handling massive textures and complex scenes without hitting memory limits. 2. **RTX 5060 Ti (16GB VRAM) - New:** Newer architecture, better power efficiency, and full warranty. But I'm worried if 16GB will be enough for high-end VR assets, especially without the optimization benefits of Nanite.
**The Specs:**
* **RAM:** 32GB DDR4 (Staying on DDR4 to maximize capacity over speed). * **CPU:** i5-12600K
**The Question:** For a non-Nanite/Lumen workflow in VR, is that extra 8GB of VRAM on the 3090 a "must-have," or is the 5060 Ti's 16GB sufficient for the next few years? How much does the lack of Nanite increase the pressure on VRAM in your experience?
