Telling ranger station hiking plans
Hello!
I just finished a hike this morning at a National Park Service run park. I am a solo woman who was hiking in this area for the first time. I decided to tell the ranger at the station my name and that I would be hiking solo. She immediately responded there was nothing she could do and couldn't accept liability. I said that I was just sharing to be extra cautious. It caught me offguard as I have heard this is pretty common practice to just have the ranger station be aware that you're out alone. Am I wrong?
