Interior vs exterior insulation for cinder block garage
We are looking to buy a house with a detached block garage. The interior is just painted block, the exterior looks to be OSB sheathing with vinyl siding over it. I want to turn the space into a shop / office so looking to add insulation, specifically to the walls. (There is already some insulation in the attic).
We are in zone 5a with mixed heating and cooling days. Will be adding a ductless mini split.
Initially I was planning on doing interior rigid foam, but upon inspection I see the siding is in need of repair / replacement which opens the potential for exterior insulation and I am trying to see if there is a big difference one way of the other between interior vs exterior?
Either way I am planning on the foam acting as a moisture / vapor barrier. Most of my research shows how to add it to the interior, but no clear reason why it can't be on the exterior?
