While I'm happy that we have so many comics available with both DC and Marvel's subscription programs, and it saves us a ton of money and room from the physical books, one of the things I miss is buying an Archive or Masterwork, having it there physically, and reading the introduction.
Reading the background and history of the character and books, sometimes from the creator themselves if they were still with us was a nice bonus. One of my favorite sets of intros was from Roy Thomas in the "Chronicles of Conan" series.
One of the first books I ever bought as a teen in the'70s was Stan Lee's "Origin of Marvel Comics". I enjoyed reading about the comics as much as reading the comics themselves.
To clear things up a little, I know you can still buy these, physical or digital, but I was referring to Marvel Universe and DCUI not having this as far as I know,, just individual issues. #entertainment source
