I just dodged a massive bullet
So my buddy’s girlfriend tried setting me up with her best friend. Right out of the gate, texting her was like pulling teeth. Just dry replies, zero questions back, and complete brick-wall energy. I’m not about to interrogate someone to "get to know them" or ramble about myself unprompted, so I called it a dead end and told my buddy it wasn't going anywhere.
That’s when my buddy drops the actual background on me. Turns out this girl was fresh off a called-off wedding / broken engagement. The absolute kicker? My buddy and his current girlfriend only met in the first place because they were supposed to be the best man and maid of honor in that exact same wedding. Once the engagement blew up, the girlfriend basically tried to throw me into the wreckage as a distraction rebound project for her friend.
Now when I say fresh off, I mean fuckin FRESH. The wedding was called off A WEEK AND A HALF AGO...
So moral of the story, don't entertain zero effort conversations where it feels like you're carrying the entire thing. You might just be dodging a whole landmine of hidden drama you didn't ask for.
