I am anti-begging as a long term solution to poverty. While every person deserves compassion and help in times of need, encouraging people to rely on begging can trap them in a cycle of dependency instead of helping them build a better future.
I believe the best support is assistance that restores dignity, such as food, shelter, education, healthcare, and opportunities for work or skills training. Helping someone become self-reliant has a longer lasting impact than simply giving money on the street.
At the same time, we should never judge every beggar the same way. Some people genuinely have no other option due to disability, illness, displacement, or other hardships. We should respond with kindness and support while also encouraging solutions that help people regain independence and hope.
