NGC 7000 Hi everyone, Just a quick follow-up to my post…

NGC 7000

Hi everyone,

Just a quick follow-up to my post about the Multi-Filter Preprocessing Wizard.

I recently put the script through another test using a Telescope Live dataset of NGC 7000 (North America Nebula), captured with a QHY 600M using Hα, SII, and OIII filters.

I used my script to handle the preprocessing, calibration, stacking, registration, and cropping of all three narrowband datasets.

It was a good opportunity to see how the workflow handled another multi-filter dataset from start to finish, without having to repeat the same preprocessing steps manually for each filter.

The script is still a work in progress, but I'm continuing to test it with different datasets and refine the workflow based on what I encounter.

Here is the resulting NGC 7000 image.

Clear skies!

**Acquisition:**

Telescope: Takahashi FSQ-106ED (106mm, f/3.6, 382mm focal length)
Mount: IC Astronomy Observatory remote mount (Telescope Live SPA-1-CMOS rig)
Camera: QHY 600M (monochrome CMOS)
Filters: Astrodon Hα, SII, and OIII
Location: IC Astronomy Observatory, Spain (Bortle 1)
Target: NGC 7000, the North America Nebula (emission nebula)
Coordinates: RA 20h56m17.3s, Dec +44°02'38"
Acquired: 01 May 2023 to 31 Oct 2023 (Telescope Live remote data)

Subs:

* Ha: 40 × 323s (3h35m)
* SII: 39 × 300s (3h15m)
* OIII: 39 × 277s (3h00m)

Total integration: \~9h50m

**Processing:**

Preprocessed in Siril using my custom multi-filter Python wizard. Each narrowband filter dataset was calibrated and stacked independently into a master Ha, SII, and OIII image. The resulting masters were then registered to a common reference frame and cropped together so that all three channels aligned pixel-for-pixel.

Each channel was processed through the same configurable pipeline, including background extraction, denoising, sharpening, star removal, and stretching, to maintain consistent treatment across the narrowband data.

The processed Ha, SII, and OIII channels were then combined to create the final narrowband color image, with additional adjustments made in GIMP for color balance, contrast, and final presentation.
