Why Your Brain STILL Thinks You're Being Chased By a Lion

>I recently looked into why something as simple as receiving an email can sometimes trigger such a strong stress response. The video explores this from an evolutionary psychology perspective: how modern social situations may activate stress systems that evolved long before emails existed.

This is my own short video, and I’d be interested to hear whether people here think the evolutionary explanation is reasonable or if I’m oversimplifying it.

The study is a meta-analysis of 208 laboratory studies and found that psychological stressors involving social-evaluative threat and uncontrollability were particularly associated with cortisol responses.
