Currently in Lake Aititlan, Guatemala. I came here to learn spanish and find peace after an awful year in the U.S. My hot take: although Lake Aititlan is stunning -- the bombas, roosters, and dogs barking between 5am - 6:30am is just not for me. It's much colder than I thought it'd be, and it's also way more touristy than I realized. Prices are jacked and it's not the secluded oasis that I thought it would be.
I want to be somewhere for a month that has nice, hot weather. Not too many terrible bugs (spiders/roaches) and not a lot of tourists. Somewhere I could get an apartment on/near the beach. Honestly -- I'd even consider a resort if I could find a super affordable one.
I ventured out of the U.S. for the first time in my life. Something that no one in my family has ever had the true resources to do. I just want to zen out next to some water and good food, and be on island time. Any suggestions? #travel source
