Should I leave rotting sweet potatos in my raised garden bed?

The google ai overview said no because of risk of fungal outbreak and disease in soil but I'm curious to know everyone's opinion.

I planted sweet potato slips in a raised container garden bed a few years ago. They're specifically the Japanese purple skin yellow flesh yaki imo. They went crazy and I never harvested them. Recently I dug around and found a bunch of potatos. The issue is more than half are massive and pretty rotted. Should I take them out or leave them for the soil? Thank you

Ps. Temperate zone if it matters
