i don't know how to begin any interaction i'm not familiar with
I love presentations in class or small talk with a cashier or smth because I know how they play out and how you are expected to act. But in new situations I'm not great.
There's a store near me that's hiring. I want to go in and apply but I don't know how that interaction is supposed to go. If it's someone other than the owner at the counter, do I ask for the owner? If they say "yes we are hiring" what do I even say after that? I worry myself thinking like this and then end up not asking at all. It's gotten to the point where I look up movie scenes where someone applies for a job but I'm not trying to do this for every adult moment in my life haha. I'm not the brightest person to begin with so I think that adds to my anxiety of not knowing what to do.
I've had negative experiences because I was slow before. When I had my first appointment with a new doctor I did everything wrong. I stood over them filling out the paperwork until they awkwardly told me "it's ok to sit in the lobby while you fill that out." It's common sense but it never crossed my mind.
I know socializing is a skill that can't be learned from theory but it's hard to have any courage when I don't know how to "start"... any help appreciated. 🙂 #relationships source
