Living with your parents as an adult shouldn’t be so stigmatized
In the US if you’re an adult and living with your parents/family there are so many people who will judge and make comments about you ‘living in mom’s basement’ and comments like that and people can go so far as to call someone a ‘loser’ for it. I come from a culture where multi generational households are considered normal even for 3 generations under the same roof.
I see people struggling financially trying to make rent but refuse to move back home due to pride even when their parents are willing to talk them in. In this economy, I don’t find any shame in living with your parents. I actually moved back home my last 2 years of college and when I first started working and I was able to build a nest egg for myself and buy a reliable car and yes you do give up your independence in some ways but it out me ahead of the curve too. I would consider moving back home again if I found myself laid off personally. #conversation source
