aJim Croce is an extremely under-appreciated artist

First off, if you haven’t heard any of Croce’s songs, please go give it a listen. I promise you the man never made a bad track.

I feel like I Croce was never given his due. Croce’s songwriting creates such a vivid story. The tales of “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown”, “Box #10 ”,nd the “Car Wash Blues” are some great examples, but truly every song has these aspects. The instrumentals of his songs complement his lyrics and evoke an emontional response. Most importantly (in my opinion), his song show the intersections of the American lifestyle and also speak on a certain universal truth of how our pasts can often define our future.

The tragedy of his life is another aspect that I feel adds to his value. If you don’t know the story, I’d encourage you to read about it. I don’t mean that in hollow way, but how everything occurred somewhat verifies what he was writing his music about. He was a brilliant and gifted musician and person that was stripped away too soon.

How do you think the legacy of Jim Croce should be written?
