So where I live there’s this older couple doing a kind of urban homesteading thing, they have solar, grow most of their food, make their own furniture etc. They swear they haven’t been to a doctor or bought any pharma meds in over 20 years. They actually showed us their records once and the last visit was in 1989. For as far as we known them they have been making their own medicinal remedies.
One time they gave my mom some herb to put in her tea when her period cramps were really bad (no idea what it’s called), and now she grabs it from them every harvest, and her cramps are no longer intense. They also made my dad a tincture for heartburn that works surprisingly well. Their whole lifestyle got me interested in homesteading, especially the medicinal side. I’d love to start a small garden and learn this stuff properly.
My question is for those of you who homestead, do you grow/make your own medicine too? Is that a normal thing among homesteaders? Any legit resources or people to follow? I’m curious but also aware this can go wrong if you don’t know what you’re doing. #home source
