All video media and broadcasts should have separate volume controls for dialog, sound effects, and music.
I don’t care how the director “wants me to experience it” or how some audio engineer thinks it sounds best to him. They don’t know my speaker setup, my hearing, or my living situation / noise requirements.
Everything is digital now and it shouldn’t even be that hard to separate all these tracks out and make a TV that can decode them all and set the volume for each to a preferred level and preferred max/min.
