I never found my people as an adult. Does finding meaningful friendships get harder as you age?
If I think back to my childhood, friendships were the most pure and easiest at a young age. I was unapologetically myself and had real friendships, with kids who liked me, for and despite my flaws.
Once I hit adolescence, I became super self- conscious and that affected my my ability to make friends and from deep bonds.
Now even in adulthood, I'm embarrassed to say, I'm uncomfortable being myself. I have this need for people to like me. I'm not sure I even know how to be real anymore.
Practically all of my friendships as an adult are very surface level. I don't have any deep friendships. It's hard for me to let people in. And as a result, I've just never found my people.
It's isolating and lonely when I let myself think about it, and I wonder where it went wrong. And I don't know if there's something I can do to fix it? #relationships source
