My brain still wants to hike all day, my legs have other ideas
I've been hiking with the same group for a long time, and I'm the oldest one out of all of us. I stay pretty active, and for a long time that was enough to keep up, but over the psat year or so, I've started noticing that longer climbs and loose sandy sections take a lot more out of me than they used to. My friends have always been great about it and I've tried making a few adjustments too, like carrying less weight, talking about pace beforehand, and taking turns picking easier routes. It all helps, but I can definitely feel that I don't recover as quickly anymore. Mentally I still want to keep going, but sometimes my legs just don't seem to have the same answer.
Anyone else been in a similar spot as they've gotten older? What actually helped you keep doing longer hikes with your usual group? #activity #hiking source
