Labour’s Bev Craig has been elected Mayor of Greater Manchester, winning 66.3% in a runoff against Reform UK candidate Sian Astley. 🗳️
Craig succeeds Andy Burnham after his election as MP for Makerfield created a vacancy in the mayoralty. The office also carries police and crime commissioner powers.
Craig has led Manchester City Council since December 2021 and has represented Burnage on the council since 2011. 🏙️
As mayor, she will lead the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s region-wide devolved governance role, succeeding Burnham after his nine years in the post.
