Wedged Tenons Question

Hi all,

Curious as to what would happen if you don't slant the mortise walls and just wedge the tenon in anyways is a regular cut mortise? Anyone do this? Why/why not?

My thinking is itd just make a very tight tenon fit - but then again it may be TOO tight?
