I am planning to go to Nepal in December. I know its going to be really cold but it sounds like the cold is a price worth paying for lower crowds. I am wondering about doing EBC (I did Manaslu about 10 years ago) as it seems like there will still be teahouses open and there aren't any high passes that I would need to cross in the case of snow.
Questions for the gang:
1. Have you been to the Himalaya in December and how much did you feel like the cold affected the quality of the experience? Am I being naive that it will be fine...?
2. Have you done EBC in December? How were the crowds? I really dont like hiking with lots of other people so I am worried that EBC will be too busy even in December. For example, did you have extended periods where you weren't bumping into other people, or did you feel like there were constantly people around you, even in the low period?
3. Any other treks you have done in December that you would recommend as alternatives? I am planning to go unsupported as I have a fair bit of high mountain hiking experience but am open to routes that require a guide.
