ISO compact piano recommendations
Hi piano folks! I am a musician and audio engineer in my 30s looking to buy a compact acoustic (please no digital) piano—spinet, console, studio or upright—for my apartment.
About me: I played classical piano for 14 years growing up, then studied music composition in college and now I work in post production sound for film. Music is still a big part of my life, but I’m rusty on the piano. I’ve reached a point as an adult where I’m really longing for a piano in my home—both to play my old classical music (and potentially restart lessons), and for composition and noodling around, maybe recording.
I see lots of pianos on Facebook marketplace, but I’m not sure what I should be looking for. What are some good models to seek out for someone in my position? I’m looking to buy secondhand rather than new, and I’d like to spend less than $3k. I love a warm, round tone—nothing too bright. And something that has all 3 pedals. I’m in Los Angeles if that helps at all. Any recommendations are much appreciated!
