I did absolutely everything right, but she said I’m "too good of an offer" because she’s stuck on a toxic situation. I’m just completely done with it all.
I honestly just need to vent and get some advice because my brain is completely short-circuiting right now.
I’ve been speaking to this girl for about 2-3 months. I really like her. I’m at a stage in my life where I know exactly what I want...I don't do casual, I don't do hookups, I want a genuine, serious partnership. I’ve been entirely honest, grounded, and emotionally mature with her from day one. I stepped out of my shell and genuinely invested my time and heart into her.
For the last few months, I’ve been getting close to this girl that I really, genuinely like. I’ve made my intentions 100% clear from the start...I don't do casual dating, I don't do hookups, and I’m looking for a proper, mature relationship. Everything seemed to be landing perfectly. We’ve had amazing banter, we’re super compatible, and I’ve been giving her my absolute best. I haven't put a single foot wrong.
We hung out today, and then everything completely flipped. Through a mutual friend, I found out she’s suddenly in two minds, claims she "doesn't know what she wants," and says she isn't looking for a relationship right now.
The kicker? She told my friend that she dies find me attractive, smart, driven, confident but I’m "too good of an offer" and that she can't find a single flaw in how I’ve treated her. But she’s currently tangled up with someone else who has been in her life for over 5 years. By her own admission, that situation is completely toxic, but she’s choosing the "comfort" of that chaos over something healthy and stable with me.
I am just so incredibly angry and frustrated. What the fuck am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to start acting like a toxic dickhead and flashing red flags just to get people to stay? It feels like nobody actually wants a good, grounded, driven partner anymore. Everyone just wants complicated, toxic nonsense.
I took a massive risk by stepping out of my shell and putting my heart on the line for this girl because I genuinely care about her. To just be blanketed out and handed a consolation prize of being too perfect for me feels like a sick joke.
I’m completely dropping the rope and going cold for my own sanity and emotional safety, but I’m just exhausted. How do you guys deal with the absolute exhaustion of being a genuine person in modern dating when people take your kindness for granted? #relationships source
