Elena Rybakina defeated Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 to win the US Open women’s singles title on Saturday. 🎾
The Kazakhstani player beat the two-time defending champion in a three-set final, claiming her first US Open crown and third Grand Slam singles title.
Rybakina had already secured the world No. 1 ranking by reaching the semifinals, and is due to replace Sabalenka when the post-tournament rankings take effect on Monday.
The title follows Rybakina’s 2022 Wimbledon victory and her Australian Open win earlier in 2026. It also ended Sabalenka’s bid for a third consecutive US Open championship.
Rybakina’s next major opportunity will be the French Open, the only Grand Slam singles tournament she has yet to win. 🏆
