Dropped 3rd strike in baseball/softball should still be an out
The pitchers worked so hard to get the batter out just for the catcher to drop it or the batter to swing at a pitch in the dirt and automatically get a free base for doing bad?
I’m fine with them standing on first, but it should count as an out. I think it should work like foul balls where if there’s 0 or 1 outs, the out counts no matter if the batter reaches first or not, and with 2 outs it’s the usual rules of it not counting as an out and they can be on first.
Especially at the younger levels where pitchers are learning and struggling, there can be like 5 strikeouts that don’t count and then the inning goes on forever when they should’ve had at least a couple outs and that’s not interesting to anyone.
