🗳️ Abdul El-Sayed has won Michigan’s Democratic nomination…

🗳️ Abdul El-Sayed has won Michigan’s Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate, narrowly defeating Rep. Haley Stevens. He will face Republican Mike Rogers in November.

El-Sayed, a former Detroit and Wayne County public-health official, won by 14,893 votes—just under one percentage point—with more than 1.5 million ballots counted.

The primary drew unusually high participation and became a test of progressive organizing against establishment support. đź’° Outside groups backing Stevens spent more than $50 million, including over $30 million from AIPAC.

The nomination does not elect El-Sayed to the Senate; it sets the November contest for the open seat being vacated by Gary Peters. đź“… His campaign must now consolidate Democratic support after the close primary.
