Got 3 contractor bids for my kitchen. the price difference is insane. How do you actually know if you’re being quoted fairly?
Just got three bids for a kitchen remodel. $38K, 51K, and 67K. Same scope of work, same materials. I have no idea how to evaluate which one is legitimate and which ones are padding. The cheapest one worries me. The most expensive one seems like they’re betting I won’t ask questions. I’ve been going line by line trying to figure out what’s reasonable per sq ft for cabinet installation, what demo should actually cost, whether the allowances they’re using are realistic..it’s taking me hours and I still don’t know.
Has anyone found a good way to actually analyze a proposal without becoming a general contractor? Wondering if everyone just guesses and hopes for the best. #home source
