It's not clear to me why the US has launched strikes on Venezuela and captured President Maduro and his wife. Its hard to imagine that whatever the accusations are, there aren't other countries who could be accused of worse, so what's the plan for them?

Isn’t it obvious, Maduro is pro Palestine and has the world’s largest untapped oil reserves, it’s another Iraq invasion scenario. His generals and close associates probably sold out his location, for possible deals and pardons.

I think it was to curb Russia and china growing influence as U.S is losing global influence rapidly so they used drug as cover up. It's very normal when a government is thrown off their will be people who celebrate the overthrow but the wise would know nothing better will come out of it. U.S hasn't learned from its mistakes in past and I think it never will.

"We will run Venezuela until there is a safe transition." - President Trump. According to him its a lot to do with oil, nonetheless he said Colombia and Cuba better watch their ass or they are next.

The events of January 3, 2026, represent one of the most significant shifts in U.S. foreign policy in decades. The capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, was the culmination of months of escalating tension and a years-long legal effort by the U.S. Department of Justice.
To help clarify the reasoning and the broader "plan" you’re asking about, here is a breakdown of the official justifications and the strategic context.

my guess: power play to BRICS, EU & UN aswell as other south american countries. Effectivly a regimechange as its the specialty of CIA. Arguments could be made for decreasement of drugs and refugees to the US but im not well informed about that and i think the significance of those matters would be marginal afaik. Regarding the operation itself; gotta admit that it sounds like a smooth surgical operation, id be interested in the codename of the operation, that always is a good hint.

Well it means something has triggered him., could be an injustice into some political issues ., It was heroic seeing him as well freezing the assets of the Lawyers from ICC., who is prosecuting our Former President , at the Hague, Netherland when we are no longer a member of the Rome Statute...

I went to reddit to check the tone there, because that community tends to be anti-Trump. I was surprised to see that the top comments there are how impressed they are at the speed and efficiency of going in, grabbing Maduro and getting out. They compare this "3 hour special military operation" to Putin's "3 day special military operation" in Ukraine. They assume that the Venezuelan military turned on Maduro.

Trump does a press conference in a couple hours, will he present Maduro on camera?

i'll be severely disappointed if he does and not present maduro held in a choke by john cena, just to show the world how serious he means it.

Keeping chess pieces under arm when needed and destroy them when they are not beneficial, that's the game of kings since the modern civilization. USA exactly has same chess strategy and next most probably in middle east.

From google

Nicolás Maduro, the former Venezuelan leader who was recently captured by US forces, faces multiple criminal charges in the United States, most notably narco-terrorism conspiracy and cocaine importation conspiracy.
The charges were filed in a March 2020 indictment in the Southern District of New York and were part of a broader US effort to pressure Maduro to leave office. The specific charges against Nicolás Maduro include:
- Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy
- Cocaine Importation Conspiracy
- Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices
- Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States

If they say it like that, then they are better at conspiracy than I am :))

I would say then, let's shut down Cia because of going in country's and creating militia and terror organisations against governments just to put in puppets who control the new regime.

What's next, throw in some bombs , capture the leader and take them away to face charges

i meant what you found on google

" faces multiple criminal charges in the United States"

kidnaped , draged to the usa to face the charges

he is american citizen ?
if not, the usa have its own interpol ?
if not, by wich law, rules, ethics ... they started war and kidnaped a president of sovereign country (whatever he did or said) ?

or, there's no charges, no blabla (whatever the official blablabla is ) and another dirty interests behind it ...

They did the same to former president of Philippine. It's not new Strategy, most probably U.S used this strategy because it worked

Next up is Iran. Their goal is to establish a Greater Israel state.

I don't think they will acheive this target. They have been trying to do it for so long and Iran is very smart. Iran has already issued warning to U.S If US attacked Iran they will attack US bases in middle east. That means big war and I don't think middle east countries will allow as Iran demonstrated last time when it striked US base in qatar eventhough missile were intercepted but the message was clear. U.S lost a lot of trust when US let Israel attack qatar to kill hamas members. These all things matter so I don't think US will be successful in removing Iran supreme leader.

I trust the Iranian people. But I don't trust their leaders. It's not easy to bring the Iranian people, with their deep-rooted history, to their knees. Neither the US nor the Mullah regime will be able to do that for long. I believe Iranian people...
