In Tax Philosophy, it states that " "Do not kill the hen that lay's the golden egg" ...
Thus, the sayings refers to the tax payer...
In the, Philippines we have several sources of Tax, and these are some of those;

1.) Income Tax: the one imposed on employees or workers; In the Philippines it is mostly 20 percent to 25 percent of the gross salary of an employee depending on the bracket of the income of an individual;

2.) Sales Tax: Added to the objects of selling, in example; Real Property Tax or Capital Gain Tax; Sales Tax in the Philippines is up to 6 percent to 12 percent which, depends on the areas, or jurisdiction, and the bracket of the amount of such sales;

3.) Value-Added Tax: this, however imposed on the goods and services of production and distribution, like the food we eat at different fastfood, Jollibee, KFC, Chowking, Kenny Rogers, or, on the medicine we bought at Drug Store, and all that covers distribution., and etceteras... concerning merchant...
In the Philippines, it added to the stuff we buy in the rate of 12 percent...

Purpose of the Government: To ensure that the Government was regulating the merchant activities of all businesses and to let every individual participate, to support the Country by contributing some of their portion which can be reciprocally returned by means of improving the Government Projects to wit;

1.) Free Medicine, to the Less Fortunate,

2.) Free Education provided for the Public School,

3.) Free financial allowance fo student academically funded by the govt, and

4.) Bridges and highways that are continuously constructing..etc...

I think no,
Taxing the poor/less fortunate exacerbates income inequality, burdens vulnerable populations and hinders economic mobility. It's essential to implement progressive taxation, where the wealthy contribute proportionally more, supporting social welfare programs and promoting economic equity.

I am from Pakistan, and in our country, the government does not provide any facilities to the poor people .This is why taxes should not be imposed on the poor people .The reason is that the poor people do not have enough income or resources to meet their household expenses, and then the tax imposed by the government will become an additional burden on them.

Paying taxes is an essential civic duty that contributes to the overall development and improvement of government services, which ultimately benefit the community. However, it is equally important to recognize that taxation can be a significant burden for low-income individuals and families.

In the Philippines, the tax system can be regressive, with consumers paying taxes on goods and services they purchase, regardless of their income level. This means that the poor, who already struggle to make ends meet, are disproportionately affected by taxation.

To address this issue, I strongly believe that tax exemptions or relief should be provided to low-income individuals, such as farmers, fishermen, and small-scale entrepreneurs, who earn minimal income. These individuals are the backbone of our economy, and it is essential that we support them.

A more progressive tax system, where those who earn more contribute a fair share of their income, would help alleviate the burden on the poor. This could be achieved by implementing a tax threshold, below which individuals are exempt from paying taxes.

Additionally, the government could consider providing tax relief or subsidies to low-income individuals, to help them cope with the rising cost of living. This could include measures such as tax credits, subsidies for basic necessities like food and housing, or other forms of assistance.

Ultimately, a fair and equitable tax system is essential for promoting economic growth, reducing poverty and inequality, and improving the overall well-being of our citizens. By providing tax exemptions or relief to low-income individuals, we can help create a more just and compassionate society.

No, I am not in favor of this because poor and needy people are already burdened by their circumstances and have to struggle for their basic needs. I do social work at home, and many people come to me who don’t even have enough food to eat. Such individuals, who are desperately waiting for a single morsel of food, cannot afford to pay taxes. The government should ensure that such people are not taxed.
The government should collect more taxes from all the wealthy and affluent individuals in the country and use those taxes to help those who cannot afford to educate their children and are deprived of many basic facilities. Steps should be taken to support such people.

For me my answer is no because they are already struggling to meet their basic needs. Unfortunately in our country all the citizens are paying taxes as long as they are consuming goods including newborn babies because of the VAT.

My answer is yes, the government has the right to to tax every citizen because it will be used also, in some ways, to uplift our country.

But we have see these problems. There's no way it could be done to the poor especially if they are not employed. They can only be taxed when they bought goods from the supermarkets/malls which complied with BIR. The underpaid employees, I'm not sure if they taxed, unless their employers are compliant with SSS, PAGIBIG, BIR, etc., or they buy goods. Small businesses/sari-sari stores, some don't even have permits. The employees are the ones who are taxed rightfully unless their employers are manipulating it. The rich, I don't know about them. In businesses, I don't believe they are paying taxes accurately, they have so many techniques to make false declarations or fool the BIR. The corrupt BIR people are the ones benefiting from it.

So, are the poor still taxed? And if you are poor, you are the most least fortunate of all, because you pay everything. And the most fortunate of all are the corrupt ones that gather all the payments of the poor, employees, rich, businessmen, lawyers, doctors, and put it in their pockets. So sad...

NO. Taxing the poor or less fortunate would increase their financial burden and worsen their living conditions. Instead providing opportunities for them to improve their situation will benefit society as a whole.

No. I think tax should not give directly to poor and less fortunate people, because we can decide that who is righteous! Instead we should pay to tax to government, because it tries to complete the basic needs of the citizens and government knows what are the needs of people.

No , I do not think the poor or less fortunate should be taxed. Taxing individuals who are already struggling to meet basic needs exacerbates their financial burdens and can trap them in a cycle of poverty. These individuals are often living paycheck to paycheck and simply cannot afford to pay taxes without sacrificing essentials like food, housing, or healthcare.

A fair and just tax system should be progressive, where those with higher incomes or greater wealth contribute a larger percentage of their earnings. This ensures that the responsibility for funding government services and infrastructure is shared equitably. The focus should be on helping those who are struggling, providing them with the resources they need to break out of poverty through access to quality education, healthcare, and job opportunities.

Moreover, taxes on the wealthy can generate the necessary funds to support social safety nets that provide assistance to the less fortunate, such as unemployment benefits, affordable housing, and food security programs. In this way, the tax system can work as a tool for reducing inequality and promoting social mobility, rather than perpetuating hardship for those who are already at a disadvantage.

Ultimately, fairness and compassion should be at the core of any tax policy. It’s crucial to create a system where the wealthier members of society contribute more, while the less fortunate are supported in their efforts to improve their lives.

Happy Sunday to you as well!

My answer is No. Even though I know taxes are a mandatory responsibility for all citizens, but taxing the poor would only make their situation worse. Everyone should contribute based on what they can afford. The poor already face many challenges, and adding more taxes would make it even harder for them to survive. Instead, we should focus on helping them improve their lives through opportunities like education and job training. When they have the support they need, they can eventually contribute more to society, which benefits everyone in the long run. Just like the saying, "don’t kill the hen that lays the golden egg," helping those in need helps the whole community grow and succeed.

A big No for me.

The poor folks are already suffering from the effect of increase vat and the ever growing international and national inflation in the economy.

If I may suggest. Reduce the vat or tax inclusion of the poor, middle class and working class people, micro, small and mediums enterprises and increase the taxes of the multi national and nation corporation.

Furthermore, the government agencies, departments, and offices must reduce or eliminate corruption in their respective working body to ensure the intended budget for services, facilities, supplies, resources, and infrastructure are given to the people who deserve it.

The people are dying from the exploitation of the ruling authority because of their poor governance and political drama in the services. A iron clad is needed to impose the strict governance implementation from the barangay level up to the national level.

No. from the perception that taxes are misused, especially if services like healthcare, infrastructure, or education are lacking. Taxation itself isn’t inherently bad—it funds public goods—but when corruption siphons off funds, taxpayers feel cheated. And also
Government should reduced VAT on essential goods.

No. They are already poor and less fortunate and if they pay tax, it will be more difficult for them to meet their daily basic needs. I t says in the Tax Code of the Philippines, individuals with no income, minimum wage earners, and those whose taxable income does not exceed PHP 250,000 are qualified for tax exemption. But there is still VAT in the supermarket, pharmacy and any other grocery stores where the poor and less fortunate purchase their goods or products. Even the vegetables or fruits you purchase from a local store has additional price imposed by the seller. So, how will the government help those individuals that qualified for tax exemption if there is VAT in every product they purchased? 🤔😅
