Work From Home with a baby?
My wife and I have a 6 week old, and my paternity leave just ended, so I’m back to work. My work is a hybrid job with 2 days in office and 3 days from home. My wife still has 6 weeks of her leave, and will go back to being a nurse part-time (2 days/week) in September.
We’re trying to avoid daycare because of both cost and the horror stories we’ve heard about them (rare as they may be). Her work is surprisingly flexible with her not being scheduled on my days in office, so hopefully she’ll only work on days when I’m working from home or weekends, and I’m going to watch him on those days. My boss is also very flexible with me shifting my hours or making them up throughout the week.
My question is: has anyone watched their baby while working from home, and if so how was it? I’m hoping it’s doable since it’ll be max 2 days a week, and I have my parents and sister-in-law somewhat close by and willing to help when they’re able to, but it’s not something I can always depend on.
I’m just a little nervous because right now he isn’t happy unless he’s being held. I know it’ll probably be different by the time he’s 12 weeks, but I just don’t want to not get anything done on those days if I’m having to watch him like a hawk all day
