should i be concerned about being this comfortable with…

should i be concerned about being this comfortable with being alone, and how it might affect a friend???

16m, pretty much what the title says I suppose. Teensy bit of context, but I was pretty much bullied all the way through Year 7 to Year 10, though thankfully it seems that people are far more concerned about exams than picking on some werido. I was pretty much alone for these years, excluding three friends I lost to being an ass to, so suffice to say I've pretty much just done the last 3 years by myself excluding a few cool people I met online.

This was pretty upsetting to me when I was younger, but I found that I'm now actively avoiding talking to people at all. I don't feel like this stems from fear, just a general disinterest?? which is weird because I was very much social when I was younger, so this might be just a natural shift.

Here's what i'm far more concerned about personally, met a cool guy through shared interests about a year ago, because quite obviously it wouldn't be my stellar personality . he opened up to me about some pretty tough shit going on in his life and some thoughts he'd been having.

before this i was pretty distant with them, usually he'd have to text first for us to talk(which makes me a dick, I know) but he seems to be pretty upset about this fact, it just never really struck me as something someone would be upset about???. it just became a normal thing for me, and i don't particularly like talking to people, but i do enjoy talking to him on occasion if that makes sense? i check up on him pretty often now just to make sure he's doing alright but i feel like me constantly avoiding him in the past might have sort of fucked him up???

sorry if a lot of this is incoherent, its 1am over here and I just don't know what to do. am i just this way forever?? i don't want to hurt the few people im close to just because i'm selfish and avoid them.
