I was looking at my front sidewalk's entrance and I'd like to put an arbor over it so that you can walk underneath climbing roses and make the entryway a little more interesting than a flat lawn. However, with how close the driveway is to the sidewalk, there's a 1.5-2 foot wide strip of grass between the driveway and the sidewalk (on the right if you're looking at the house from the street) and then the rest of the lawn to the left of the sidewalk. I don't think I'll have enough space to put a fence on the lawn strip and still be able to get out of my car, so I was thinking I would build the fence to the left of the sidewalk, but that would leave the arbor connected to the fence at the outside corner on one side instead of being built in-line with the fence on both sides of the arbor. Would a partially freestanding arbor over the sidewalk look exceptionally silly, or do ya'll think it would look fine once the plants grow in around it? #home source
