There was nothing wrong with the Uruguayan rugby team resorting to cannibalism when they were stranded

First of all, we’re animals. It’s been shown time and again that when a human is literally starving to death, their brain isn’t functioning normally. Instinct kicks in and survival becomes the sole priority. Don’t say you wouldn’t have done what they did; if you’re a human being, odds are very good you would have. Pretending you know how you’d handle that situation when you’ve never been in it is foolish.

But not nearly as foolish as it would have been for the rugby players to not resort to cannibalism. The bodies they were eating weren’t people any longer, they were just meat that was going to decay anyway. If I died in that situation, I’d absolutely, obviously, of course WANT people to eat my remains if it kept them alive and gave their families the opportunity to see them again. It’d be idiotic not to use a potential source of food in that situation.
