Prefer of none parametric cad programms like Autocad or Turbocad for mechanical parts/assemblys i am wierd?
Mabye this is a stupid question but everybody says that autocad and similar Software Are not for mechanical engineering.
In my education as engineer we are also told only parametric like catia and Solidworks a Software that Are used in mechanical engineering. I know that there a a lot of Benefits of parametric but when you work in special purpose maschinery there is every part only ones and in another project you Start from scratch.
Also in my company we use solidedge.
The background of my question is that i like to Start a small Business beside my work and i am insecure if i made the right or wrong decision When i go for example with autocad or better bricscad and not with a full parametric Software.
I also think that the price of for example solidworks is extrem for a little start up company.
I also know that make changes in for example autocad Are not so easy like in catia or other parametric Programms and take longer.
But i must also mansion that When the parametric has a failure you also need a lot of time in special in assemblys to find the error.
So mabye some of you can give me a advise or have experience with both Software packages
