Soft fired/rage quit because of my bosses insecurities…

Soft fired/rage quit because of my bosses insecurities

I've been bartending at this bar for about a year now. I started out getting 4-5 closes a week and couple volumes here and there. Making GREAT money. Then I started noticing the last few weeks that my hours had been cut substantially. I've been getting 1-2 closes a week and maybe 1-2 volumes. So making drastically less money. Naturally, I start getting nosey about this and asking my coworkers and dropping hints around my boss's sister. (Yes, my bosses sister is also my coworker.) I even asked my boss several times if I could work more or what I could be doing to improve. She either ignored me completely or said "yes I'll work on scheduling u more!" And then nothing changed.

I should also mention that my bosses best friend also works at this bar, but at the other location. And HER boyfriend is also my coworker at my location. He recently got bumped up to manager. So basically it's one giant clique. I don't know how that isn't a conflict of interest. You have my boss, her sister, my bosses best friend, and her boyfriend ALL working at the same bar. And I've kiiiinda been picking up on their hostility for weeeeeks, I just didn't know why or where it was coming from. Months even. I've had no desire to be apart of their group. It's just a bunch of drama anyway.

But I did not think it would start to affect my job. I didn't even find this out until a few weeks ago at an employee party, but apparently both my boss AND my bosses best friend BOTH think I want BOTH of their boyfriends??! Which I do not. And I assume this is why I'm not getting any hours/appear to be getting soft fired. I Literally had no idea I was such an issue in BOTH of their relationships. I didn't even think to ask my coworkers about this ever, or that this would be a legitimate issue. But here we are.

But I come into work the other night and they had hired my replacement. So this is when it all the dots start connecting. I'm upset at this point, so I ask my manager (and my bosses bffs boyfriend) about this. I'm like who's the new guy? He was not really a fan of him either. But I'm so upset I straight up ask him "is this because your gf thinks I want you? Cuz I've been hearing whispers of this being an issue but I didn't think it would ACTUALLY get to the point of affecting my job" .... THATS the first and last conversation him and I had with him abt this. And he told me that "him and his gf had fought about me so many times." He said he had to convince his gf "at least five times that we did not want each other" and even still his gf is not convinced. I was shocked. Not once have I ever looked at that man in that way. Not once did I even pick up her being so intimidated by me because of that specifically. It wasn't until other coworkers brought it to my attention that I started to piece these things together.

As stupid as it is, I was absolutley getting soft fired because my coworkers gf THOUGHT me and him were into each other. And since she's besties with my boss, she was probably in my bosses ear praying on my downfall for God know how long. I had every single one of my coworkers vouching for me to managers and the owners trying to get me scheduled more. I even had the BOH cooks vouching for me. None of it matters if your superiors and their best friends are jealous of you.
