Strange daycare policy?
Our home daycare provider has it written into the contract that they are entitled to 3 weeks of paid vacation, with 10 days notice before taking it. Over the year that I’ve been there, they’ve only taken vacation a couple of days (maybe like 2 or 3?) where they didn’t arrange care. For all other vacations they had an alternate teacher cover for the day. They never mentioned us paying for the alternate care outside of our normal tuition.
Now, at the end of our first year, they are asking us to pay them for the 3 weeks of vacation in a lump sum (like a PTO payout). Have you ever heard of something like this?? It’s a substantial amount of money to be due unexpectedly!
Here is the exact language they use: Child Care Provider Vacation The Provider's vacation will be 15 days per year paid by the parents without considering the holidays of the year, the Child Care Provider must provide (10) Day(s) notice before going on vacation.
