(from wikipedia 'cause im lazy)
**Bright Blue** was a South African band that was prominent on the progressive scene in the final years of apartheid https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apartheid . The band's name "reflected the paradox of being bright in a very blue time" but was also a tribute to Chelsea FC https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea_FC .
They are best known for the protest song "Weeping https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weeping_(song )", written by keyboard-player Dan Heymann http://www.weeping.info/Dan-Heymann.html , that the band recorded incorporating strands of "Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nkosi_Sikelel'_iAfrika " at a time when public performance of the ANC https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_National_Congress anthem could lead to summary arrest. However, the government censors seemed to notice neither the reference to a banned tune nor that the song was an allegory https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegory about then State President PW Botha https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PW_Botha and the state of emergency that he had imposed.
Here's a link to the song, because its really good: https://youtu.be/1POzJujs\_oU?si=v7Wwj2NZ-QQNcJT5
