Stop trying to find solutions when people are ranting
If you’re one of those people who immediately starts suggesting solutions whenever someone is ranting or venting about something that annoyed them, please stop. It can completely ruin the interaction
A lot of the time when people complain about something, they’re not actually looking for advice or a solution They just want to talk about what happened, get it off their chest, and connect with someone who understands
For example: your coworker is complaining about a rude customer they had earlier. They’re telling you how annoying the interaction was, and you respond with: “Well, you should talk to the manager about it. They’ll probably fix it.” And suddenly, the conversation is dead
Maybe your coworker didn’t want to report the customer. Maybe they already know what they could do about it, Maybe they just wanted you to say, “Wow, that sounds annoying. Some customers are seriously the worst, i hate when they do that too dude »
Not every complaint is a request for advice
The mistake many of us do is that, we treat social interactions like mathematics, like something with logic but social interactions aren’t logical, its not an equation that you need to solve. It’s about vibes, feelings, flow #relationships
