Why don't international airports just install more automated lanes to reduce clerance speeds?
I am based out of Singapore and I fly in and out of the Changi a ton of times a year, and I have, till this date, NEVER spent more than 5 min clearing immigration due to the availability of so many automated lanes that both citizens and foreigners of all nationalities are able to use. I still can't recall flying into another major international airport that can beat the immigration clearance speed of Changi.
My question is, why? What's so difficult about installing a bunch of automated lanes in an international airport. It's 2026 and I can't understand why any country should still be relying on physical humans at a kiosk to process everything, and I refuse to believe it's a technological reason. #travel source
