First thing I did when I got my first paycheck as a freelance animator was buy a buttload of obscure toys
(the backstory for that obsession is that i lost everything in 2005 due to a housefire, so i had to get some childhood back)

I thought it was just your hobby. That's the reason why you're good at creating digital images. Buying or collecting the things we like brings satisfaction and happiness.

Hobby like toy-collecting or art/animating? I did get lucky and landed some cool animation jobs for TV (unfortunately the studio shut down 3 episodes in so yeah not much came afterwards but I do excel in finding new opportunities (just bad at making use of it P: )
Wow you have a good collection! I can only imagine how much you had before the fire. I am glad you are ok. Things can be replaced but you are priceless

As an anime figure collector myself, I somehow understand the feeling. I stopped buying figures now for financial reasons, but once I get back on track and start earning properly again, for sure I'll get back to collecting anime figures once more. 😅

Sweet! Something special about inanimate objects that represent the dreams we never achieved. I was gonna pick up showcasing and collecting them once i finally find a place im comfortable in (but atm im also on hold )

I stopped buying new stuff eventually and most of em are boxed up again but you'd be surprised how much unnessary goods one can hoard in 20 years (wouldn't want another housefire but damn it's the easiest way to start from scratch :O )
