Since the Dwarf is suggested as a portable travel scope, I took mine along to a family outing at Norris lake this week. Setup was on a boat dock in EQ mode. The sky was reasonable clear and a hint of the Milky Way was visible near dawn. Exposure was 98.5 minutes at 15 second per sub. Everything else was set to auto. Processing was done on the Dwarf stacked image in Photoshop. Levels, color and saturation were adjusted. Saved as a JPEG. Levels were adjusted to get a good black point and the gamma and white points were set for the mid tones. Color adjustment to eliminate a slight overall color cast and the saturation was increased.
IC 5070 was one of 4 targets that night, set up as a scheduled shoot. IC 5070 was the last, from about 3Am to 5AM. I set it all up and went to bed at 10PM. By 6AM all of the images had been captured and processed and we went on with the family gathering. The image was satisfactory, but could have benefitted from more exposure time, however when traveling there is only so much that can be accomplished in the short time available.
It is great to be able to just set up the scope and do other things, like sleeping, and still get reasonable images. I have lots more images on my site, if anyone is interested. Just ask.
