Afraid my new coworkers won’t like me. Any tips?
I’m a software engineer, starting a new job soon. I’m socially awkward in general, but also I’ve gotten too used to working remotely.
Remotely I am mostly never around anyone if I’m not actively trying to connect with them. In person I’d have to be around everyone, including people who might find me annoying.
This is important to me because I was bullied at a previous job and slightly mean coworkers are still triggering to me to the point that it affects whether my work gets done. I’m working on this.
In the mean time, my plan is to ask each person about their favorite coworkers from previous jobs to get a sense of their preferences.
