Buy house in city, live there for some years and then rent out while starting homesteading?
I’m 31m. Grew up in the countryside, worked on a farm for 2 years and then as a handyman mor another 2. Degree in construction engineering but working as software engineer for 5 years in the big city. I’ve always thought about homesteading, but I currently still enjoy city life.
I have the option to buy a nice home and live there for at least a few more years. The other option is to start homesteading right away, but I want to be well informed and prepared.
My idea is to buy the house in the city, keep saving up as much as I can and learning more about homesteading, and visit and volunteer as much on other homesteads as possible to learn from others. Then, I want to buy land and move there while renting out the city home. I could get pretty god income from that and I would always have a valuable property that would be easy to sell. Land prices here are fortunately not too bad, so I don’t think I will put off the moment of buying land that long.
I could work remotely too, so overall I think the outlook is not too bad (I do need to get lots of experience of course)
Any tips or suggestions would be really appreciated!! #home source
