British fishing for cod led the Royal Navy to fight the Icelandic coast guard three times as Iceland increased its naval borders to better preserve their population of cod and keep their own fishing market secure. The British lost every time.
No shots were fired but ships literally rammed each other to circumvent their orders to not fire, Iceland would use diplomacy every time to force Britain to back down and back off.
