I've got an old columbine flower outside that seems to be at the end of it's life, so I went out and collected a bunch of seeds from it, in hopes of continuing it's legacy.
However, I don't really know the best course of action.
I'm planning to grow them in planters at first, with the intention of replanting them in the ground once they're big enough.
I know they're perfectly capable of growing on their own in the ground (I've had plenty sprout up over the years with this plant) but the HOA's garden folks always come along and chop up the baby sprouts before they can really get big enough that someone would look at them and not just think they're a weed. Beside that, I also would like to give at least a few of them away to other people, and having them potted already would make that easier.
I know they need to be wintered, either in the fridge or literally just outside during the winter, but that's about where my knowledge on them ends.
Does anyone have tips or advice on how I can go about this? #activity source
