🎾 Serena Williams will return to the U.S. Open in mixed doubles after receiving a main-draw wild card with Carlos Alcaraz, the USTA announced Saturday.
It will be Williams’s first U.S. Open appearance since 2022. The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion returned to competition this summer after nearly four years away from the court.
The invitation covers mixed doubles only. Williams has not said whether she will also enter singles, and the USTA still has one women’s singles wild card available, according to CBS News.
Alcaraz is due to defend his U.S. Open singles title after a right-wrist injury absence. The mixed-doubles main draw begins Tuesday. 🏟️
